V. Subramanian, IAS (Retd), Secretary General, Indian Wind Energy Association

Shri. V. Subramanian retired from the Indian Administrative Service from the post of Secretary to the Government in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. He has a rich and varied experience in Finance, Aviation, Tourism, Power and Labour.

Subramanian advices and mentors the Renewable Energy and Energy Access Programmes of Vasudha Foundation.

Dr. Bill Hare,  CEO, Managing Director and Senior Scientist, Climate Analytics, Germany

Dr. Bill Hare is a Physicist and Environmental Scientist with more than twenty years experience in relation to the science, impacts and policy responses to climate change and stratospheric ozone depletion. Mr. Hare was a Lead Author for the IPCC’s Climate Change 2007: Mitigation of Climate Change component of its Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) and a Topic Leader on long term issues and Article of the UNFCCC in the Synthesis Report of the IPCC AR4. He has been a Visiting Scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research since 2002.

Dr. Hare has in the past adviced Greenpeace International on Climate Policies and is now associated with Climate Analytics, whose main mission is to synthesize and advance scientific knowledge in the area of climate change and on this basis provide support and capacity building to stakeholders.

Dr. Hare is on the Board of Mentors of Vasudha Foundation, particularly mentoring the organization in developing its Global Climate Energy Policy Advocacy Programme.

Steve Sawyer, Secretary General, Global Wind Energy Council

Steve has worked in the energy and environment field since 1978, with a particular focus on climate change and renewable energy since 1988. He spent many years working for Greenpeace International, representing the organization at intergovernmental and industry fora primarily on energy and climate issues.

At GWEC he is focussed on working with intergovernmental organisations such as the NFCCC, IPCC, IRENA, IEA IFC and ADB to ensure that wind power takes its rightful place in the energy options for the future; and with opening up new markets for the industry in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Steve is also a founding member of both the REN21 Renewable Energy Policy Network and the IEA’s Renewable Industry Advisory Board.

Steve advices and mentors the Renewable Energy Programme of Vasudha Foundation.

Smitha Kamath

A wildlife & environment enthusiast and a staunch believer in Sustainable development being critical for us to retain ecological balance for the health and equitable well being of our  and future generations from whom we have borrowed this ecosystem.

She has been on the senior management team of Global Environmental NGO managing organization development.

Studying Environmental law fuelled her passion for exploring structured solutions to integrate Ecological Intelligence with sustainability strategies. After 16 years post engineering career with IT industry driving business transformation initiatives she set up the ‘sustainability solutions’ practice to ICT (information communication & technology) to enable sustainability strategies to effectively minimise ecological footprint of customer organizations.

Smitha has been involved into two key areas:

ICT enabling corporate sustainability program through energy efficiency engineering solutions, Product Governance  and Compliance with Lifecycle management tools, business intelligence and predictive analytics to manage the sustainability goals.

E-governance projects / Public private partnerships – to enable sustainable development of region.

She is currently engaged in exploring sustainable development approach for the developing economies around equitable access to resources and accounting for ecosystem and biodiversity. She advices Vasudha Foundation on precisely these areas and also drives some of the Foundations work.

Shuba V. Raghavan

Shuba works on the Economics and policy of clean energy and sustainable development. After a Ph.D. in Mathematics, she was a Senior Research Associate at Yale University’s Investment office which manages one of the largest not-for-profit endowments. More recently, as a Principal Research Scientist at the Center for the Study of Science, Technology and Policy in Bangalore, she worked on low-carbon options with stakeholders at the national and state levels. She is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Liu Institute for Global issues at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

She advices and mentors Vasudha Foundation on its programmes on Low Carbon Development.

Samrat Sengupta, Consultant and Senior Clean Energy Advisor

Samrat is a qualified Lead Auditor ISO 14064; Bureau Veritus Certification, 2010 and is armed with a certificate in Climate Change Science, Impacts and Responses, from the Imperial College London in addition to having a Post Graduate Diploma in Energy Management from the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management

Samrat’s area of expertise include carbon footprint and GHG inventory estimation, project development of projects under the Clean Development Mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and Commercialization of Certified Emission Reduction. He is also involved with helping organization/s to plan strategies and design advocacy campaigns toward policy formulation in the field of climate change and energy.

Nidhi Pundhir

Nidhi Pundhir brings over 15 years of experience and expertise in the area of “Child Rights”, ranging from strategic program development, program management and advocacy, research and networking. She has been associated with a wide range of Internationally renowned organisations that work on “Child Rights” amongst others such as Save the Children, UK, SOS Children’s Villages International Continental Office for Asia and is currently associated as International Program Advisor, Plan-International, UK.

Nidhi has a Masters in Hospital and Health Management from the Indian Institute for Health Management and Research, Jaipur and an M.Phil in Hospital and Health Systems Management from the Birla Institute for Technological Sciences, Pilani.

Her role as a Board Member of Vasudha Foundation is to advise us on developing programmes on Energy and Climate Change which is Children sensitive. She also plays a proactive role in helping us evolve overall Governance Structure for the young Foundation.
