Vasudha Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation working in the clean energy and climate policy space. Vasudha Foundation has an FCRA registration with the FCRA Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs and also has 12A and 80G registration under the Income Tax Act. Vasudha Foundation works on multiple projects, funded by various philanthropic organisations.

The organisation is looking for a full-time/on role Energy Modeler – Senior/Middle Level.

Purpose of the Role:

• The role is to develop and deepen work in the energy and power sector space that includes and is not limited to research and analysis of policies and regulatory issues in the power and associated fuel sector.
• Generate different scenarios and pathways required to evaluate options for India’s energy independence and Net-zero aspirations using models such as TIMES-ETSAP, Markal, MESSAGEix, CGEM, IESS, RUMI, GCAM, Safari, etc.
• To develop capacities in various mitigation aspects of climate change at national and sub-national levels for the Vasudha Foundation.
• Developing near-term, medium-term and long-term low-carbon/ Net Zero pathways, which will inform decision-makers on various aspects such as costs, benefits, socio-economic factors, etc.
• Develop future scenario building for various aspects of the power and energy sector such as and not limiting to ‘energy supply and demand projection’ et al.
• Any other assignment on the power sector and energy that the senior management may deem necessary for achieving organisational objectives.
• Report preparation and helping the think tank in formulating policy suggestions to the relevant ministries.

Networking/Meetings and Conferences:

• Represent the organization in various external events and meetings, whether it is project-related meetings or other events in the power and energy sector space.
• Representation in field visits and Community Interactions.
• Develop relations with other energy and climate modellers practitioners in India and explore possibilities of collaboration with such experts.

Qualification and Experience:

• Middle /senior level modeler with the ability to independently develop/use energy sector models for addressing various policy issues.
• 8-10 years of experience with at least 5 years experience in energy modelling/economic analysis with a focus in the energy, AFOLU, IIPU and waste sector.
• Knowledge/application across multiple modeling techniques /frameworks preferred (energy system/system dynamics or other frameworks applied in the energy and climate policy space).
• Good analytical skills for conducting techno-economic analysis.
