Vasudha Foundation with support from Heinrich Boll Foundation embarked on a research study to assess the impacts of water scarcity on coal power generation in India.

The data and information for the study were primarily Government Data, sourced from various ministries and agencies, such as the Central Electricity Authority, the Ministry of Power, Central Water Commission, Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change amongst others.

The study brings out key insights into not only the impacts of water scarcity on operational power plants but also looks at coal plant additions and water table and per-capita water availability from river basins across a period of time, until 2050.
