Policy Officer / Sr. Policy Officer (Climate Change)

The broad roles and responsibilities would include and not limit to:

Research and Writing

  • Researching the latest information related to the physical, social, economic and other impacts of climate change for a wide range of sectors and geographies
  • Translate technical information related to climate change science, policy, regulation and legislation, into easy-to-understand, business-relevant information.
  • Maintain databanks of data retrieved from websites/ government portals/ published reports, key stakeholders etc
  • Create impactful communications materials including briefing papers, policy briefs, blogs, presentations, and articles.
  • Design, develop and administer surveys, and analyse results.
  • Contributing to a growing pipeline of climate-related learning and engagement projects.

Proposals and Fund raising

  • Provide support in the development of new proposals, bid documents and concept notes
  • Provide assistance in engaging funders through presentations and proof of concept

Networking

  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with key project stakeholders including Government Departments/ Ministries/Agencies, local administration, CSOs, NGOs and academia as per project requirements
  • Regular interaction with key stakeholders (including community) directly or indirectly for data collection

Meetings & Conferences

  • Coordinating with team and stakeholders to organize meetings and conferences
  • Participate, create meeting briefs, press releases etc.
  • Provide support in stakeholder engagement through field visits, community engagement, and focus group discussions

Requirements

  • A motivated, creative, independent individual with a passion for climate change and sustainability related issues with Master’s degree in relevant subjects.
  • 2+ years of work experience in climate change/sustainability space working with government (preferred) and/or private sector
  • Excellent research skills with a good understanding of reliable sources of information on climate change including: climate science, policy and regulation, reporting and disclosure, and legal frameworks.
  • A strong technical understanding of climate change adaptation and mitigation, energy transition, climate policy, sustainable development, and related aspects
  • Experience pertaining to climate – energy/WASH/agriculture nexus will be an added advantage
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative analysis skills.
  • Experience handling large data sets and good command over MS Office, experience with analytical and statistical tools will be a plus
  • The ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely to a range of audience.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications and an ability to work collaboratively
  • Professionalism, ability to work as part of a team and independently, and ability to liaison with stakeholders, government and private partners among others
  • Open to travel and if required open to relocation to Lucknow / Bengaluru / Ahmedabad
